About
A sin is not just a mistake - it is destructive and leads to death.
Throughout history, Christians have recognised the seriousness of sin and sought to categorise its most dangerous forms. The most well-known of these is The Seven Deadly Sins: pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. While this list is not explicitly found in the Bible, it serves as a helpful tool to recognise sin in our lives.
In this series, we will explore each of the seven through biblical narratives - examining how they manifest, their consequences and ways to overcome them.
I. Lust: Joseph's seduction (Genesis 39)
II. Pride: Nebuchadnezzar's humbling (Daniel 4)
III. Wrath: Esau's fury (Hebrews 12:16-17, Genesis 27:30-45)
IV. Gluttony: Adam's temptation (Genesis 3:1-7, 17-19)
V. Sloth: The Sluggard (Proverbs 26:13-16, 6:6-11)
VI. Greed: The rich young ruler's dilemma (Matthew 19:16–25)
VII. Envy: Ahab's obsession (1 Kings 21)
Sin leads to death, but there is hope. Jesus offers us life! Through Him, we can overcome temptation and walk in victory, because He has already conquered sin and death!
